Learning principles
Peer-to-Peer Method
We have combined the most effective learning methods into a single system that encourages internal motivation to obtain new skills. The method is based on peer-to-peer (P2P) or team learning. To achieve success, students have to work as a team, share information and take it in turns to be trainers and trainees. This approach helps students to fully unlock their creative potential when working on projects.
Gamification
Another method is gamification. This approach is derived from role playing videogames. The acquisition of new knowledge and completion of projects is accompanied by 'levelling up' of skills and experience and the continuous movement from one level to the next.
24/7 Regime
Each student works on their tasks at their own pace and when it is convenient for them. The school operates 24/7 — the students are free to decide when they are most productive and can study whenever they like, even at night.
Personal Development
Students are taught the skills of self-study and constant professional development necessary for IT professionals. The academic process includes a personal development programme that helps improve communication and teamwork skills. We are focused on helping our students love their area of study.

F.A.Q.
What does the educational process look like at School21?
Imagine an endless universe that you can explore. However, it is up to you to find the way and get to the most interesting parts of it. You have to work on projects, but an approach which helps you to master education materials much faster is available to you. There are no teachers, lectures, textbooks or traditional grades. Education takes place in the form of deep immersion in the programming language or technology. Merely having an interest and ambition is not enough. You must develop the skills necessary to achieve mastery.
What are the basic requirements to enrol?
We believe it is wrong to judge by school or university grades, so we do not require candidates to provide a certificate or diploma. Everyone can try to pass the online tests, which help to identify the skills needed to work as a programmer. According to the experience of the French school, even students who have failed academically may become talented programmers. After the tests and personal interview, the next qualifying stage begins in the form of a one-month trial period of study called the 'Pool'. After passing the Pool the most talented and motivated students will be enlisted at School 21.
Why is tuition free?
Not every talented person can afford a decent education. Sberbank will provide this opportunity to every talented person in Russia as a socially responsible company. We are proud to have the privilege to participate in the creation of our future with the next generation of professionals.
What tips can you give regarding the Pool?
Have a good rest before the Pool. Wisely organise your time, evenly distribute your study load, and work hard. Don't forget to maintain a balance — have a healthy sleep and eat properly. Have fun and good luck!
What is the deadline for completing the online tests?
There are no deadlines for passing the tests. However, be aware that roughly a month before each selectional Pool there will be an application for people who have already passed the tests.
Is there an age restriction at School 21?
Age is the only restriction for applying to School 21. To enroll in 2018, candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old as of 1November 2018.
Is it possible to apply School 21if I am over 30 years old?
Unfortunately, at present the target audience for School 21 is from 18 to 30 years. But we are considering all suggestions and getting ready to work with different age groups.
Can I participate in the Pool if I work/study/etc.
Minor duties are not a problem, but it would be complicated to study at School 21 as it takes up most of the day. If you cannot spend a full four week sat the School, you should consider applying next year.
Do I need to have a good understanding of IT to enroll in School 21?
The level of your programming skills is not crucial. All are equal at the beginning of education. The experience of schools that use this methodology in other countries shows that capable students without experience in programming quickly catch up with those who have already worked as a programmer. Of course, if you have never seen a computer, studying will be very hard for you. But nothing is impossible.
Can I become a project manager at School 21?
Your project management skills will develop with the implementation of team projects during your education. If your plan is only to get project management skills, you should consider other education programs because a major part of education at School 21 is dedicated to programming.
Is it possible to study remotely?
No, you have to be present at School 21 as the main part of the learning process involves direct interaction with other students. All educational materials are stored electronically on the intranet of School 21, and you have to come to get them.
Does School 21 have national accreditation? What kind of diploma does it provide?
Our graduates will receive a certificate of graduation from School 21 graduation and the certificate of the French school.
Do you provide accommodation?
Unfortunately, at the moment we do not provide accommodation.
How many hours should I spend at School 21 after the Pool?
It all depends on you, School 21 is open24/7, so everyone can work at most productive period of the day. However, you need to spend up to 40 hours a week to progress within the programme.
